If you had told me a few years ago that I’d be curating a major arts festival in the heart of Houston, I probably would’ve blinked twice and kept painting. But here we are—and I’m beyond excited to share that I’ve been invited to serve as the Visual Arts Curator for the 2025 Fade to Black Arts Festival at MATCH Theater!
This festival is such a vital space—centered around Black voices, bold stories, and raw, real creativity. It brings together theatre, film, music, poetry, and visual art in one powerful lineup. Being trusted to shape the visual arts experience this year? That’s an honor I hold close.
If you’ve been rocking with Roxy Wuz Here Art, you already know—my work leans heavy into abstract expression, mental wellness through art, and public art activations that create conversations, not just pretty pictures. I believe art is healing, it’s disruptive, it’s sacred—and I’m curating with that same spirit.
The vision? To showcase artists who are unafraid to feel deeply and express boldly. Expect color, chaos, softness, honesty, and truth. I want every piece to speak to our joy, our struggle, our complexity—and to offer viewers a moment of reflection, release, or maybe even recognition.
Fade to Black 2025 is happening June 8–14 at MATCH Theater in Houston, TX—and it’s going to be incredible. I’ll be sharing more soon about the artists and the energy we’re bringing to the walls. But in the meantime, I’d love for you to check out the full festival lineup and learn more about the movement behind it.
