As we start off the new year with new goals, we would be remiss not to share one of the most exciting art exhibits of 2021 that Roxy Wuz Here had the honor of participating in.
From Nov 19-Jan 3 The Art Center Highland Park in Highland Park IL. hosted the Being Bipolar in a Polarized World and The Thin Line exhibit curated and featuring Chicago artist Kelly Mathews.
shown below are Artists Rickale West and Kelly Mathews with the RHW original "I'm Ok", selected by Kelly to be apart of the "Thin Line" Exhibit.
"I’m Ok is a full dedication to women and more specifically to black women. Growing up there were many days I witnessed my mother utter the very words “I’m Ok” knowing she was carrying the weight of life all over her. But she insisted she she had to be “Ok” to make sure she could be all that she could for her children. As I have moved through life I have found myself practicing this same habit of saying “I’m Ok” especially on days I was crumbling to pieces. I’m Ok is to everyone who has ever bared burdens with a straight face."
